Aside from blogging and writing, I discovered a new hobby that I’ve been doing now with my boyfriend and a couple of work friends – it’s pickleball.
So I decided to create a printable pickleball word search for people who love word search puzzles and pickleball.
I also found out that yesterday, August 8, was National Pickleball Day, and I find it somehow fitting that I decided to create this fun printable game.
So while we were playing pickleball today, I thought about this and the terms that are helpful for beginners like me in pickleball.
So here you go…
Unlike my other word search games, I’m going to make an exception here and share the pickleball terms before we get to the printable game itself.

20 Pickleball terms you should know:
- Dink — A soft, gentle shot into the kitchen. All finesse, zero power.
- Kitchen — The no-volley zone near the net. Step in too soon and you’re “cooking” a fault.
- Volley — Hitting the ball before it bounces. Fast hands required.
- Serve — The shot that starts it all. Underhand, always.
- Paddle — Your trusty weapon of choice. Not a racket, don’t @ me.
- Rally — The back-and-forth before someone messes up (or wins the point).
- Fault — The oops moment. Ball out, into the net, or a rule broken.
- Smash — The power move. Overhead, aggressive, deeply satisfying.
- Lob — A high arcing shot meant to send your opponent running backward.
- Baseline — The back line of the court. Your safe zone… until it’s not.
- Drive — A flat, hard, fast shot. No mercy.
- Drop shot — A soft, controlled shot that just barely clears the net. Sneaky good.
- Doubles — Two players per side. Teamwork makes the dream work.
- Singles — One-on-one. Just you, your paddle, and your cardio.
- Net — The thing your ball should NOT hit (but often does).
- Spin — Adding some sneaky rotation to mess with your opponent’s return.
- Footwork — The unsung hero of your game. Good feet = good shots.
- Backhand — The awkward-but-necessary shot on your non-dominant side.
- Forehand — Your go-to, most natural swing.
- Sideout — When the serve switches to the other team. A little reset moment.
